What are your long-term personal goals?

The Challenge

Imagine that today is your last day in your department or unit after a good, successful "run." Now, think about your future self. Write down the top three accomplishments you want your future self to achieve. Identify one small step you could take toward achieving your future goals.

Why do this?

Keep focused on long-term goals. One of Stephen Covey's famous quotes is, "Begin with the end in mind." When we know where we want to end up, it is more likely that we will set ourselves on the right path and keep our focus.

This act is part of your long-term effort to lead change effectively by setting out a long-term vision for yourself.

What’s next?

Revisit the vision for yourself and progress you are making toward achieving it every quarter. If you get stuck, consider sharing your personal goals with a friend or your supervisor to see if you can get help.
