Take a few minutes today to pause. Count to 10, or count to your favorite number (mine happens to be 44 so it’s going to take me a bit!). Now think about what makes you smile. Maybe it’s a video of your cousin’s 18-month-old turning into a little person before your eyes. Maybe it’s your dogs wagging their whole bodies when you pull out their leashes for a walk. Maybe it’s the tulip next to your sidewalk, blooming a little earlier than it should have. Maybe it’s a song you haven’t heard in awhile but still know all of the words. Remember every thing that makes you smile; write them down if you want to; draw a picture; show that picture to your family; talk about it; post it; spread the smiles; and–oh yeah–just SMILE. Like everything else, especially when we’re under stress, it might take some practice. Practice with me, will you please?
