How does your work energize you?

The Challenge

Identify a recent day where you felt particularly energized about going to work. What tasks were on your agenda that fueled that energy? Now, think about a day that you were dreading. What was on your schedule that day? Use this information about your energy levels to identify the tasks that really engage you and the ones that drain your energy.

Why do this?

Resilient people sustain their energy levels through difficult times. Be aware of the activities that spark your energy and plan to spend time re-energizing yourself when you are feeling drained.

You may find that you feel less tired if you consciously balance draining activities with energizing ones. Finding the right balance that works for you will enhance your resilience.

What’s next?

Use this thinking to plan your activities for the next three workdays. Assess how well you were able to keep your energy up on each of these days. You will face unanticipated events at work, but having a plan will help you sustain your energy during tough days.
