How often do you network?

The Challenge

Find an event this month that you could attend in the evening or weekend related to your industry. This doesn't have to be an official networking event, but could be anything in which you're likely to meet people whose professional interests align with your own--a happy hour for software developers, a sponsored talk about a new project management framework, a meet and greet for entrepreneurs, and so on.

Why do this?

Even if you're not currently looking for a job, you never know where new connections may lead you! Having a strong community is important for more than just finding work-related opportunities. It is what nourishes us as social beings, and makes us feel connected.

Meeting new people and growing your network introduces you to things you may never have considered otherwise, and engaging with others in your industry on a regular basis keeps your ideas fresh.

What’s next?

When you're at the event, make it a goal to talk and exchange cards with at least three people.
