What can you do to break bad habits?

The Challenge

Think about the habits you have at work that relate to your leadership abilities and general work performance. Identify four of these habits that are not working well for you or your team. Think about at least one new habit that you could cultivate in order to mitigate the impact of at least one of those four unhelpful habits.

Why do this?

Strive for continual self-improvement. Because of the position you hold at your organization, you are a role model. You are also human, of course, so it is important to stay aware of how your habits are affecting your own work, and thus the work of your staff and colleagues.

This act is part of your long-term effort to enhance your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses.

What’s next?

Try to adopt one new positive habit each quarter. Hopefully, by the end of a year these positive habits (if practiced consistently) will have lessened the impact of the more negative ones.
