How can you use a compelling vision to inspire your team?

The Challenge

Think about what your team is accomplishing right now. Think about what more you wish you could all accomplish. Create a plan for discussing these two questions in a team meeting. Write down the ideas that are expressed during that discussion. Prioritize the list of things that the team wishes it could accomplish and take some steps toward that vision.

Why do this?

Build team consensus on a shared vision. High-achieving teams and leaders have visions that stretch beyond where they currently stand. Consistently striving toward new and positive achievement is the hallmark of great leadership and a great team.

This act is part of your long-term effort to lead others by inspiring them to work toward a compelling vision.

What’s next?

Celebrate the things you are currently achieving (for example, consider taking the group to lunch).
