How do others in your organization see your impact on the world?

The Challenge

Think of someone who's been at your organization longer than you have. Set up a quick meeting with them (15 minutes should be enough) and ask them how their perception of the company's impact on your external environment has changed over time. How do they view your impact on the community now versus when they first started?

Why do this?

Understanding your organization's history gives you insight into many aspects of it's current persona.

This backstory will help you make better decisions going forward about how your organization should interact with its external environment, and why.

What’s next?

Other questions you might want to ask include: "What has changed the most in how we act on the local/national/international stage?", "Where have you seen the biggest growth?", "Where do you think we still have the most work to do?", and "What one thing has the company become more aware of as an external opportunity/threat in the past five years?"
