How politically savvy are you?

The Challenge

Give yourself a ranking between 1 and 10 (1 being "I've never even heard those words before" and 10 being "I am a foremost expert in this skill") that describes how politically savvy you are. A few things to think about as you answer this question: Can you identify the internal and external politics that impact the work of your organization? Do you perceive the true political reality of your workplace, and do you act accordingly? Be honest with yourself!

Why do this?

A detailed self-awareness is absolutely essential to creating realistic goals for yourself in your career and your life. Knowing where you are strong, where you are weak, and where you want to focus your attention is a precursor to intentional development. (By the way, if you noticed that this challenge is similar to another one you've done, you're right. It is! We developed a whole series on self-awareness, and this challenge is part of that series.)

This challenge is part of a series that encourages you to think deeply about your current skill set and identify the areas in which you are the strongest and the ones in which you have the most room to grow.

AfterBrainstorm two or three concrete steps you could take to strengthen your skill set in this area. What would it take to move your ranking up by ONE point?
