How strong is your public service motivation?
The Challenge
Give yourself a ranking between 1 and 10 (1 being "I've never even heard those words before" and 10 being "I am a foremost expert in this skill") that describes how motivated you are by public service. A few things to think about as you answer this question: Do your actions show a commitment to serve the public? Do you work to ensure that your organization's objectives and practices align with public interests? Be honest with yourself!
Why do this?
A detailed self-awareness is absolutely essential to creating realistic goals for yourself in your career and your life. Knowing where you are strong, where you are weak, and where you want to focus your attention is a precursor to intentional development. (By the way, if you noticed that this challenge is similar to another one you've done, you're right. It is! We developed a whole series on self-awareness, and this challenge is part of that series.)
