How well do your team's current projects align with your organization's vision?

The Challenge

List your team's top three current projects. For each project, identify how it will help your organization achieve its vision. Think about how you communicated to your team about each of these projects. Were you clear about the purpose of the project and its connection to the organization's vision? Were you clear with individuals about how their work connects?

Why do this?

Connecting your team and work to the organizational vision is a key leadership skill. An effective leader translates vision into action, enabling each team member to clearly see how their work contributes to the success of the organization.

Understanding how every project supports the organizational vision motivates people and keeps them on track. Vision gains its power when everyone's actions reinforce and support its goals. Your team will be most effective when they have a clear purpose, know what steps they need to take, and feel they share a common mission.
