What is your personal mission statement?

The Challenge

Think about what your reason is for doing the work that you do. What is your "why"? And go a little further than "to make money" or "to make my clients happy." Your answer should be the thing that drives you to go to work each day.

Why do this?

People who know what their work purpose is are generally more satisfied and productive.

Having a "why" in the form of a personal mission statement helps you drive your goals and make important career decisions.

What’s next?

Consider writing down your "why" on a sticky note and putting it up in your workspace. Feel free to tweak it as often as you'd like, as well! A "why" may evolve over time as you get to know yourself and your field better.
